Golf

Starting from nothing, in public.

I have run 20,000 miles and never broken 100. So this page starts at zero and keeps the receipts: every round, every score, and a real World Handicap System index the moment there are enough holes to justify one. Not before. The interesting part of learning something is the part most people delete.

The number

Handicap index

The trend

Strokes per hole

Scores per hole rather than per round, so a nine and an eighteen sit on the same axis. Par is the line at the bottom. The gap between them is the whole project.

Strokes per hole

The log

Every round

All of them, including the bad ones. A scoring record you curate is not a scoring record.

Score differentials

The handicap is not an average of scores. It is an average of the lowest few differentials, which adjust each score for how hard the course was. Here is every one, so the index above can be checked rather than believed.
